Voices

(An Anthology of Contemporary Horror)
Edited by Mark S. Deniz & Amanda Pillar

Voices: is a new anthology edited by Mark S. Deniz and Amanda Pillar, which will be published by Morrígan Books, late October, 2008. The anthology will focus on the horror genre exclusively and is rooted very much in today's society, rather than other worlds and times.

Voices, is an anthology in which every story will take place in a hotel room. (N.B. All the rooms featured in the anthology will be in the same hotel) There are no guidelines for how the room will look, as this is something that will not be mentioned by place, a hotel that the reader will in fact not see, other than in the selected rooms.

We are looking for stories that shock, disturb and scare the reader. Well crafted psychological and/or supernatural horror stories are preferable here to hack n' slash gore stories, although if they are excellent we will consider them too. Think claustrophobia, think confinement, think hopelessness; think fear.

Payment: $20 USD, plus a contributor copy. Word length: 2,000 - 7,000 words (longer stories will need to be discussed with us before submitting).

Reading Period: begins 1st December 2007. Please do not submit your stories before then.

Deadline: 1st May 2008. This is not a rolling submission and we will inform authors as to whether they are successful or not as soon as possible after this date.

To submit: Send your original, previously unpublished submission, in rich text format (rtf), as an attachment only. Put 'Submission: ' followed by your story title in the subject line of your e-mail. Send to: voices@morriganbook s.com.

In the body of your e-mail, please include your mailing address, contact e-mail address and the word count of your story.

The Age of Blood & Snow

Edited by Skadi meic Beorh

Tell us your tales of Vikings, Elementals, Witches, Beasts, Swordsmiths, Villains, Seers, Spirits, Bloodshed.

Dark Fantasy, Black Horror, Slipstream, Dark Romance, Contes Cruels & all brutality marking that heroic, vile era.

~ Nihilism vs. Life ~ Selfish pursuit vs. Selfless power ~ Shadows vs. Light ~ Sword vs. Word ~

Give us the most secret exploits of Loki. Speak of Odin's darkest thoughts as he hanged from the windswept tree. Weave us tales of dragons, queens, sea creatures, ash-boys, lust, murder, afterlife. Tell us of Ragnarok. Alternative planes are best left to sword-and-sorcery ventures. We want blood and snow. Stay rooted in Planet Earth, in Yggdrasil. Reveal through your horror the reasons we seek peace, and ensue it.

Children being hurt in any way must fit with your story.

No fan fiction, RPG, or stories including copyrighted characters, places, or ideas.

We will accept previously published material, but you must acknowledge that publisher.
